- Abeliophyllum - A monotypic botanical genus in the family Oleaceae, represented exclusively by the species Abeliophyllum distichum (Korean white forsythia). In pharmaceutical botany, phyto-neurosciences, and toxicology, extracts from the aerial organs of this plant are intensively studied for their high concentration of phenylethanoid glycosides, flavonoids, and verbascoside compounds. These secondary metabolites display potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties, being investigated in vitro and in vivo for their ability to mitigate neuroinflammation, inhibit acetylcholinesterase, and protect neuronal cells against oxidative stress-induced degradation in degenerative cognitive pathologies.
