- Abies cephalonica - A species of fir native to the mountainous regions of Greece, commonly known as the Greek fir or Cephalonian fir. In traditional Mediterranean medicine and modern pharmacognosy, the resin and essential oils extracted from its needles are studied for their high alpha-pinene and beta-pinene concentration, historically used as a potent pulmonary antiseptic and joint anti-inflammatory agent for treating rheumatism.
