#sterile
- abacterian - A medical term used to describe an environment, biological sample (urine, cerebrospinal fluid), or inflammatory process where no bacteria are present. An abacterial inflammation (such as abacterial cystitis or prostatitis) produces symptoms similar to an infection but is triggered by chemical, immune, traumatic factors, or viruses, with laboratory microbial cultures remaining negative.
- abacteriemic - A medical term describing the state of an organism or circulating blood in which no viable bacteria are present. It is used clinically to confirm the absence of a systemic infection disseminated through the bloodstream or to describe the complete remission phase of a patient successfully treated for bacteremia, where repeated blood cultures turn negative.
- abi - A learned combining form used as a prefixoid (a variant of the prefix 'abio-') to denote the absence of life, the lack of living organisms, or organic processes taking place outside active biological structures. In biochemistry and clinical pharmacology, it forms technical terms describing sterile environments, artificial chemical syntheses of genetic compounds, or molecular reactions completely devoid of living cellular interaction.
- abioză - A scientific term denoting the total absence of life or the state of an environment in which the existence of living organisms is completely impossible due to the lack of essential abiotic factors or the presence of extreme physico-chemical conditions. It can also describe the temporary suspension of an organism's vital manifestations (latent life state).
